10 Step Plan For Landing The Perfect Job

Written objectives are more likely to be accomplished than those you just think about. Set objectives about how you will go about finding the right career opportunity and include the following:

1. Alternative Choices – Make sure your plan has alternative choices so that you improve your chances of success.

2. Sell Yourself – Highlight what you are good at in your resume and in your interview. Your communication skills are often the #1 skill requested by companies. This is a skill you have but probably don’t appreciate in yourself as much as you should.

3. Computers Are Essential – You need to use computers. Almost all jobs require some use of the computer, no longer just computer programmers.

4. Skills Are Transferable – Use an online skill assessor to see all the different opportunities that use similar skills.

5. Be Prepared – Prepare yourself well for your interviews. You can research most companies by going to their website. Most companies use their name as their web address.

6. Key Words – Use key words in your resume. Companies often use computer scanners to review resumes. The scanners don’t always recognize italics, boldface type and underlining. Remember the keywords represent your skills such as teamwork or analytical skills.

7. Flexibility Is Key – Show your flexibility through your resume or in your discussion at the interview. Companies like people who can adapt to different situations.

8. Assess Yourself – What do you like to do? What are your good at? Find out what your interests suggest in terms of a career.

9. Know Your Motivating Force – What motivates you to do your best? It could be money, it could be using your talents, it could be helping others, but know what it is because that is what helps you move forward.

10. Stay Current – Keep your skills and your talents up to date even if you aren’t looking for a job now – you should always be building skills for the future.
